Our Team

All of the staff at the Atlantic Cat Hospital have a deep and abiding love of cats, understanding their unique needs. Ongoing continuing education helps staff to meet those needs. Gina completed a special Dentistry course in May of 2012 to fine-tune her skills in caring for your feline friend’s oral health.

Sandy F.

- Head Receptionist

With over 25 years of experience, Sandy is our head receptionist. Her welcoming smile brightens our reception area and she is usually the first person you see when entering our clinic. Sandy's knowledge and training allow her to answer most of your feline questions.

Although Sandy's major roles are to schedule appointments, educate cat owners and help with purchases she far exceeds these duties. She is always there to help with patients or go above and beyond for our clients, she is the heart of ACH. Sandy runs a tight ship and keeps all the staff on track, notably when it comes to the front desk. We are so thankful to have such a great role-model!

When not at work Sandy is an avid bowler, but what she truly enjoys most is hanging out with her three granddaughters. She does not have any pets right now but she aspires to get either a goldfish or hamster in the near future.

Rhonda S.

-Office Manager

Rhonda graduated from CompuCollege with a Veterinary Assistant diploma in 2004, was hired as a VA at ACH in 2005 and became Office Manager in 2007. Rhonda left ACH for an opportunity to work with emergency cases at Metro Animal Emergency Clinic in 2014 and gained a lot of experience while working at MAEC.

Rhonda officially came back to ACH in 2017, she doubles as our Office Manager and a very knowledgeable Veterinary Assistant; we are all ecstatic that she has returned! Her favorite part of working here is educating clients on the unique care requirements of the feline species.

Halifax is where home has always been for Rhonda and she has settled here with her husband Grant, daughter Emmy and kitties. Her absolute favorite thing to do is spend time with her daughter; they often make crafts, play dress-up or entertain their two cats Salty and Spicy.

Sara-Dawn L.

-Veterinary Assistant

Sara-Dawn was born and raised in River John, NS. She moved to HRM to study Veterinary Assisting at the Centre for Health Studies where she graduated in June 2015. She started at ACH as a student and soon become an integral part of our team.

Sara loves all animals, however she's always had a special fondness for felines and is thrilled to be working with them at ACH! She can be found attending to patients, assisting the technicians and helping clients. Her bubbly attitude is contagious and she is always eager to socialize with both cats and people!

When not at the clinic Sara enjoys being with her family, videography, swimming and photography; with a focus on pets of course. For now, Sara and her boyfriend Dustin have settled in HRM with their two purrfect cats Luna and Olive.

Susan P.

-Veterinary Assistant

Hailing from St. Anthony, NFLD, Susan moved to Halifax to attend school at the Centre for Health Studies and graduated as a Veterinary Assistant in December 2014. She started at ACH as a practicum student, when her placement was finished she was offered a VA position and has worked here since. She is a fantastic member of our team!

Susan is versatile in all aspects of the clinic and caring for animals has been her passion since she was young, she is happy to  be doing what she loves. When not at work Susan enjoys exploring the Nova Scotian outdoors with her dog and ferret.

Susan and her fiancé Ash currently reside in Windsor with their ever expanding fur-family, which currently includes: a sweet kitty named Chloe, beloved beagle Luna, hamster Callie, and Leo the ferret.

Samantha B.

Samantha grew up in the country; Falmouth, NS and has always had a love for animals. She studied to become a Veterinary Technician at Maritime Business College where she graduated in August 2016, only one month later she became a strong addition to the ACH family.

Sam can be found in surgery, treating patients, recovering surgical and sick patients, as well she often uses the microscope to help the Veterinarian make a proper diagnosis. As an RVT Sam has many roles and she is a vital part of patient care in the clinic, her devotion to animals is reflected in everything she does.

When Sam has spare time she likes to spend it playing hockey, running and the majority of it with her family; mostly in an outdoor setting. Her family consists of her daughter Alexis, partner Dennis, dog Bella and two sister cats named Dakota and Moo.

Gina M.

- Head RVT

Gina grew up in a scenic, rural area of Cape Breton. She left the island for Truro to study Veterinary Technology at Nova Scotia Agricultural College, where she received her diploma in 1999. Shortly after she joined ACH and now she leads our  treatment team as our Head Veterinary Technician.

Over the years Gina has learned a lot about caring for felines and has been dubbed "The Cat Whisperer" by her peers; treating cats has become her niche. Whether it comes to dental cleanings, monitoring patients, assisting in surgery and all things in between Gina is qualified and ready to go. Her patience, wisdom and kind heart make her an incredible RVT, all the staff look up to her!

Although Gina loves visiting Cape Breton, she has made her home in Halifax with her husband Perry and cat Rosie. When we actually let her have time off she likes to spend it outdoors, at music events and with family.
